Espag Window Handles

What is an espag window handle?

An espag handle has a square spindle on the back. The spindle engages with the window’s locking mechanism when the handle is turned. Espag handles are common on modern uPVC and aluminium windows, as well as some timber windows.

How do I identify an espag handle?

Remove the handle and look for a square spindle protruding from the back. Espag handles usually have a 7mm square spindle and two fixing bolts.

How do I measure the spindle length?

Remove the handle from the window and measure how far the spindle projects from the back of the handle. Check this against the spindle length stated on the replacement handle. Our Window Handle Measurement Guide shows you how to measure it.

Can I choose a different colour?

Yes. You can change the finish as long as the replacement handle is compatible with your window and has the correct spindle length and fixing positions.

Do espag handles come with keys and fixings?

Many handles are supplied with fixings and, where required, keys. Please check the individual product description for exactly what is included.

Can I use a locking or non-locking handle?

Both styles are available. Check the product details and whether the handle is suitable for your window before ordering.

Can you help me identify my window handle?

Yes. If you’re unsure, you can send us a photo and we’ll help identify a suitable replacement.
