Door Handle Measuring Guide
Simple steps to help you choose the Correct Door Handle for your Door
- Step 1: First you need to measure between the centre of the handle (the bit that you pull down) and the centre of the keyhole. If you look at the picture this measurement is referred to as A. This size is set so make sure you measure carefully. This size is known as the handle CENTRES or PZ. You will find this size as part of the description of all the door handles on our site.
- Step 2: The next size you need to take is the screw centres (referred to as B). To do this, measure from the centre of the top fixing screw to the centre of the bottom fixing screw. Some handles have fixing screws above or below the handle, so make sure you measure between the centres of the two fixing screws.
- Step 3: Finally, measure the overall length of the handle backplate (referred to as C). Measure from the very top to the very bottom of the rectangular backplate. It is also useful to measure the width of the backplate, particularly when replacing an older handle, as this helps make sure the new handle will cover the marks or fixing area left by the old one.
Before choosing your replacement door handle: We recommend checking all three measurements - the PZ centres (A), screw centres (B) and overall backplate length (C). Also check the backplate width and whether your existing handles are Lever/Lever or Lever/Pad. Do not identify a replacement using the PZ and screw centres alone, as more than one handle may share the same measurements.
