How do I measure a uPVC door handle?

Use the diagram below as a guide — there are three key measurements you need:

• Size A – PZ size: the distance from the centre of the handle spindle hole to the centre of the cylinder keyhole. Common sizes are 92 mm, 70 mm and 68 mm. This must match your lock to ensure smooth operation.
• Size B – Screw fixing centres: the distance between the two screws that secure the handle to the door. Matching this ensures your new handle lines up with the existing screw holes.
• Size C – Backplate length: the overall length of the handle backplate, top to bottom. This helps confirm the new handle will cover the same area as your old one.

What’s the difference between lever/lever and lever/pad handles?

Lever/lever handles have a lever on both sides of the door and open the latch freely from inside and out. Lever/pad handles have a lever inside but a fixed “pad” outside — so you need a key to open from the outside. Lever/pad is often used for added security on front doors.

Are uPVC door handles universal?
