Description

This multipoint gear box has been used on numerous door locking systems over many years and can be found on some of the major brand doors like B & Q etc.

The 45mm version of this lock is used on the Compoosite door sold By B & Q. The matching cylinder is a 35/35 cylinder in this link.

The gearbox has a deadbolt and a latch and the backset can be either 35mm or 45mm. The same gearbox can be used on the Saracen, Laird and Surelock systems.

The latch is easily turned around to suit both left or right handed doors using a pozi drive screw driver.

A free starbit is included to help the job along.

Frequently Asked Questions

You need to measure the pz (shown as “A” on our guide) and the backset (shown as “B” on our guide).
Click here to go to the guide.

This depends on your existing gearbox and whether an alternative is available and we always have to match up with the existing “holes” in your door. Call us on 01204 652211 and we can help you with this.

The most common bit used to remove a gear box is a torx t20 although in some instances a square drive can be used which can normally found in most drill bit sets.

A Dual spindle has 2 spindles at different heights. This means that the levers / moving parts of the door handle will be at different levels on the inside and outside. A Split spindle is made of 2 parts that meet inside the gearbox. The levers / moving parts of the door handle will be at the same level. A Single spindle is one long part which goes right through the door. The levers / moving parts of the door handle will be at the same level. To distinguish between a split and single spindle you will need to remove them from the door and look.

No, as you do not necessarily need to change the barrel when changing the gearbox so the gearbox is sold on its own own. If you need a new cylinder, please click here.

We try to put these guides on each gearbox page. If its not there please call us on 01204 652211 and we’ll find the instructions for you.

Unfortunately not all gearboxes can be purchased separately. Contact us if you can’t see your gearbox on our website and we can tell you if its available or not.

ERA Saracen Surelock Replacement Gearbox with Deadbolt

Posted by Roy Weindling on Mar 30, 2020

I cant say its the right item just yet as I need to drive 20 miles to try to fit it on my son's door, and because of social distancing, I cant travel to do it. When restrictions ease, I'll review again. But good service in order/despatch process.

    Era Lock

Posted by Jason Ian Gavin on Mar 07, 2020

as described. measurements were a little confusing as we measured our existing lock and it measured at 60mm wide but the website said 65mm but we went ahead and ordered with the view that we could change the cut out in the door if needed. it fitted first time no issues. Would recommend and use again.

Appeared to be well made and an exect copy of original.

Posted by Derek Hughes on Feb 20, 2020

I have purchased a lock from you previously for another property so I was happy to visit you again. You need to make sure you take the critical dimensions, and sketches help to determine these. The lock was fitted yesterday without any problems . Easy job for DIYr and at very good price. More than satisfied service and would highly recommend company. Thank you

Was absolutely perfect - it was a precise match for the broken one I was trying to replace. The online diagrams were very helpful in matching up.
