Description
This multipoint gear box has been used on numerous door locking systems over many years and can be found on some of the major brand doors like B & Q etc.
The 45mm version of this lock is used on the Compoosite door sold By B & Q. The matching cylinder is a 35/35 cylinder in this link.
The gearbox has a deadbolt and a latch and the backset can be either 35mm or 45mm. The same gearbox can be used on the Saracen, Laird and Surelock systems.
The latch is easily turned around to suit both left or right handed doors using a pozi drive screw driver.
A free starbit is included to help the job along.

Simple steps to help you choose the right size backset for your Gearbox
The Backset size is A in the diagram
Measure from the the front of the main faceplate (A in the diagram) to the middle of the spindle hole. This measurement is taken when the gearbox is attached to the main front face plate.
Measurement B is the PZ Centre.

The most common bit used to remove a gear box is a torx t20 although in some instances a square drive can be used which can normally found in most drill bit sets.
A Dual spindle has 2 spindles at different heights. This means that the levers / moving parts of the door handle will be at different levels on the inside and outside. A Split spindle is made of 2 parts that meet inside the gearbox. The levers / moving parts of the door handle will be at the same level. A Single spindle is one long part which goes right through the door. The levers / moving parts of the door handle will be at the same level. To distinguish between a split and single spindle you will need to remove them from the door and look.
No, as you do not necessarily need to change the barrel when changing the gearbox so the gearbox is sold on its own own. If you need a new cylinder, please click here.

Saracen Replacement Gearbox
I ordered 2 to replace one failed gearbox and one that was of a similar age which I kept as a used spare. Both worked fine and have been for a month. Delivery was 2days using a courier. I bought one 2 years ago for another door and it is going strong, no issues. Hence my repeat order. On that occasion I choose Royal Mail who were not on strike as there was no rush as this was prementive maintenance after a failure on a door we used just as often and i did not want a repeat visit from a locksmith, delivery was 1 week 25gbp (23 plus 2 postage in 2020, part now 25 even at todays inflation so no rip off profitteering by Handles and Hindges) vs 200gbp for a locksmith (yes that was the charge for a 25gbp part and labour initially billed at 290gbp total before complaint and 1 star rating). No contest It took me 20mins to fit each gearbox, tools required are a No2 Philips screwdriver and T20 torx bit (which was supplied with the gearbox). Youtube shows you the how to. Helpful note, when you fasten it to the door mechanisms make sure you put the gearbox into the locked position, seems to be easier to fit the 1m long brass sliding locks you take off door. Don't worry of the spring-loaded door catch on the gearbox is wrong way round, a No1 Philips takes out two screws, rotate 180deg, replace screws all done in 30seconds by the clumsiest DIY man in Scotland. I fully recommend this company. I would give a 6 star rating if it were possible. Good parts, Great Prices ( 1/5 of a locksmith for parts and 1/3 of screwfix) and no profiteering. Add in good service and good advice over the phone.....yes they answer the phone and after only 2 or 3 rings. Outstanding. This is how all businesses should be run.
