5mm Wedge compression back gasket

Wedge gasket is fitted between the double glazed unit and the upvc frame to hold the glass securely in place. Over time these gaskets can shrink or perish and create gaps which lets in draughts and cold spots. It is important to get the right size of gasket as too thick will put too much pressure on the glass (if you can even get it in) and too thin will not hold the glass tightly. It is more often found on externally beaded windows as it works together with the bead to push the glass into place and create a secure fit.
When fitting wedge gasket you can push into place using your fingers or if you are doing quite a large area you may find a gasket roller better to use. Gasket rollers are available on our site by clicking here

Gasket can deteriorate and shrink over time so unfortunately we can’t identify your gasket this way. We recommend purchasing our gasket sample pack to see which gasket fits in your frame the best.
It is possible that a different gasket may work in your groove. Therefore, we have the sample pack, so you can try them and see what fits.
Generally by pushing bit by bit with your thumbs. With some of the chunkier gaskets such as wedge gaskets it can be done a bit easier with a gasket roller.

Gasket and rubbers samples
Good selection, but found choosing the right sample a bit difficult as some so similar! Would be easier if the individual pieces were marked with just a little sticker, rather than the sheet of paper. I’m not sure I ordered correctly, but my fitter feels confident he can use what I ordered. Fingers crossed!

This product appears excellent and was easy to fit. It arrived in good time and has improved the look of the windows as well as making the frames much easier to clean. I only gave four stars because it's only just gone in, ask me again in five years and if it still looks as good I'll give five. My only reservation is that I would have liked it in white.

Third time of using yhis very good product
This is 3rd time of using this wedge to replace mould infested wedge in our double glazing, that was about 15 years old which we inherited when we moved in. Yhe wedge fits in nicely using the seperate fixing tool, overall we are pleassed with this product

This is the second time that I’ve used Handles and Hinges to supply 5mm wedge seals, the first time was roughly 18 months ago, on that occasion the wedge seal was ideal for the task, with a second door needing new door seals the choice of supplier , as before Handles and Hinges supplied the wedge seal and again it was ideal for the task, I would have no hesitation to recommend this company to supply any double glazing spares for any future tasks.

Very Good Product
We bought this to to replace our old double glazing gasket which was riddled with mould, and was very pleased with the ease in which it could be instaled using the special tool which we also purchased.
