Wedge gaskets are most commonly found in older-style UPVC windows where the glass is beaded from the outside. The clue’s in the name — it’s wedge-shaped and fits snugly between the glass and the frame to hold everything in place and stop draughts sneaking in.

This type of gasket is pushed into the gap after the glass has been fitted, so if yours is cracked, perished, or keeps falling out like an old filling, now’s a good time to swap it.
