Description
This OLD style GU multipoint is a one piece locking mechanism consisting of a latch, deadbolt and two small hookbolts.
Size:
- Backset: 45mm
- Distance between hooks: 1610mm
- Distance between latch and deadbolt: 50mm
- Case height: 207mm
Operation:
- Lift lever
Notes:
- GU locks are now manufactured with a new style centre case
- The main difference between old and new style is the distance between the latch and the deadbolt, this will sometimes cause problems with strike plates
- The other major difference in the height of the lockcase, although this shouldn't cause any real problems when retro fitting
Latch Reversal:
- Push flat bladed screwdriver into small rectangular slot above spindle and pull latch out at same time
Simple steps to help you choose the right size backset for your Gearbox
The Backset size is A in the diagram
Measure from the the front of the main faceplate (A in the diagram) to the middle of the spindle hole. This measurement is taken when the gearbox is attached to the main front face plate.
Measurement B is the PZ Centre.

GU MULTIPOINT OLD STYLE, 2 SMALL HOOKS (TONGUES), LIFT LEVER (L/L), 45MM BACKSET
The multipoint lock was ordered to replace an old style 20 year old GU multipoint lock. The replacement fitted perfectly with just a little adjustment to the wooden door frame. Handles & Hinges gave great service and quick delivery - highly recommend

Old style GU replacement
I could not find an old style GU multipoint assembly with 45mm backset. Handles and hinges advised that this item would fit with small modifications, it was fine, trimmed top and bottom and moved mortice keep in door frame down about 15mm and all working perfectly.
