Door Handle Measuring Guide
Simple steps to help you choose the Correct Door Handle for your Door
First you need to measure between the centre of the handle (the bit that you pull down) and the centre of the keyhole. If you look at the picture to the left this measurement is referred to as A This size is set so make sure you measure carefully. This size is known as the handle CENTRES or PZ. You will find this size as part of the description of all the door handles on our site.
The next size you need to take is the screw centres (referred to as B). To do this you measure from the centre of the top screw to the centre of the bottom screw (some handles have screws under the handle or over the handle.) Once you have these sizes (write them down) you can browse our site for handles that you need.

Handles & Hinges - Door Handles
Every once in a while you come across a gem when you're least expecting it, let me tell you about my recent find. Just before a large family gathering the back door handle broke. Not a major problem you may think but there is no other way to reach the back garden, all the activities were going to be outside and if the door slammed shut someone could finish up stranded in the garden or the house! I phoned the company which fitted the door, only a couple of years ago, but they weren't interested as it was outside guarantee. A Google search led me to Handles & Hinges and their handy online handle-finder saw me enter three measurements and took me straight to the handle that I required. I ordered straight away and chose courier delivery (I needed it now!) and crossed my fingers. Their package arrived the next day, the handle fitted perfectly, the quality was superb, my wife was happy again and our grandchildren tested the handle all weekend without once being locked in or out. It was far better than the original. Some stories do have happy endings and I've added Handles & Hinges to my Favourites so they'll be the first port of call at the slightest hint of trouble with any other door or window hardware around the house.
