48mm PZ UPVC Door Handles – For Legacy Aluminium & Early Double Glazed Doors

These 48mm PZ door handles are commonly used on older style UPVC and aluminium doors, including first-generation double glazing systems. The 48mm PZ measurement refers to the distance between the centre of the spindle (handle) and the centre of the keyhole (euro cylinder), and it’s essential to match this size when replacing your handle.

48mm handles were often used in early locking systems from manufacturers such as GU, Avocet, Fuhr, Mila, Maco, Fullex and Lockmaster. These systems are still widely installed on many homes from the 1980s, 90s and early 2000s – particularly on older UPVC and slimline aluminium doors.

You may find that the screw centres on your existing handle are different to the ones on this page however these are the only handles available now.

If you have a good level of DIY then it is possible to redrill your door to suit the screw holes on the replacement handles however it is very important that you check the position of the lock gearbox inside the door before starting to drill. You will need to unscrew and remove the lock from the door to check this.

This is essential as drilling in the wrong position will damage your lock and could mean a new door is needed.
