Door Handle Wizard What does 48mm PZ mean? It is the distance from the centre of the handle spindle to the centre of the keyhole. This measurement must match your existing lock.
Important: The PZ measurement is determined by the lock inside your door and cannot be changed by drilling new fixing holes. Make sure your existing handle measures 48mm PZ before ordering.
The screw fixing centres on some replacement handles may differ from those on your existing handle. If you are considering drilling new fixing holes, the lock must be removed so you can check its position first. Drilling into the lock could damage it or the door. If you are unsure, contact us or ask a professional to fit the handles.

What is a 48mm PZ door handle?
A 48mm PZ handle has a distance of 48mm from the centre of the handle spindle to the centre of the keyhole. This size is often found on older uPVC and slimline aluminium doors.
How do I measure my existing door handle?
Measure from the centre of the handle spindle to the centre of the keyhole to find the PZ size. Also check the distance between the fixing screws and the size of the backplate. Our Door Handle Measuring Guide shows you where to measure.
Can I replace a 48mm PZ handle with a 92mm handle?
No. The PZ measurement must match the position of the spindle and cylinder in your existing lock. A 92mm PZ handle will not line up with a 48mm PZ lock.
What if the screw fixing centres are different?
Compare the product measurements with your existing handle before ordering. Some 48mm PZ replacement handles may have different fixing centres. If new holes are needed, the lock must be removed and its position checked before drilling. Contact us or consult a professional if you are unsure.
