There are many UPVC door locks available & there are various terminologies. To the the trade they are known as either "Lock Mechs" or "Door espags". The correct name for a UPVC door lock is "Multipoint". This refers to the locking strip that runs the entire length of the door having mulitple locking points that lock into your double glazing door frame.
Multipoint locks are used on Wooden / timber doors as well as UPVC. Also on the market there is a door called a Composite door. This is a door that actually looks wooden but is made using GRP or Steel faced insulated panel.
When choosing a UPVC door lock to replace the one you have existing it is paramount that you messure carefully. This saves a lot of frustration and time.
